Mindstretchers runs the only registered training centre in Scotland with OCN accreditation, the awarding body for Forest School. We deliver OCN training in-house at our Centre of Excellence in Perth and Kinross or at any designated location in Scotland through the use of the Tipi, temporary shelters and trailer. This training provision builds upon over 10 years of training expertise including CPD, Nature Kindergarten and Consultation courses delivering to early years managers, teachers, outdoor specialists and education consultants. The Forest School training offered by us is designed to support the Curriculum for Excellence and the current documents in Scotland linked to outdoor learning. Benefit Risk Assessments are used as a teaching tool as well as on-site in daily delivery of the training, these are created and dynamically used to respond to the spaces and weather experienced.

Risk it or Risky Play is a training course to support practitioners in creating positive learning environment that enable kinaesthetic children to thrive. Action research has shown that the well being and involvement of children and in particular boys increases with the introduction of creative, risky and challenging opportunities. In this session we will demonstrate how you can support children to be self risk assessors who are resilient and thoughtful about their own personal safety, and who can make choices about what risks to take.
